It started in Pennsylvania. Nick’s father, launched a painting business called Painter & Sons in the late 1980s. It was a family trade, the kind of business where you learn discipline, craftsmanship, and pride in your work by watching your dad do it right every single time.
Nick grew up around paint and brushes. He learned that a paint job is only as good as the prep work underneath, that quality materials matter, and that homeowners can feel the difference between rushed work and meticulous care.
Then came 2008. The crash hit the construction industry hard. The painting business contracted along with everything else. Nick was young, uncertain what his path would be. So he took a detour.
He enrolled in culinary school in Vermont. For years, he worked as a chef in Baltimore, building restaurants, developing menus, and chasing the creative energy of the kitchen. It was fulfilling work. But something was missing. The instant gratification of cooking left him wanting something more permanent. Something he could point to and say: “I built that. It’s going to last.”
In 2017, Nick returned to the painting industry and founded Brush & Color Painting with one clear mission: deliver high-quality interior and exterior painting services done right the first time, with the kind of precision and pride he learned from his father.
A few years later, Nick relocated to Austin. That was 2019.
